Steps After Commitment

Congratulations, you have been accepted and are one step closer to studying abroad at the NC State Prague Institute! Below is a list of action items that must be completed before departure, please keep in mind that this by no means is meant to be an exhaustive list.

    • Purchase a plane ticket
      Typically, the earlier you purchase a plane ticket, the better the price. After you have committed to the program, you can purchase your flight. We strongly discourage purchasing a flight prior to being accepted into the program.

 

    • Complete all Post-Decision Questionnaires and Materials
      After you commit to study abroad at the Prague Institute, you will have a list of new questionnaires and materials that appear in your PackAbroad account, please make sure to complete these before the Post-Decision Materials Deadline. Provide all of the information you can, ensuring to complete the Health History, Emergency Contact Information, and Participant Agreement first, then providing the rest of the information when it becomes available. Submitting your Passport Information ASAP is crucial for semester students who have to apply for a visa.

 

    • Apply for a Visa if participating on a semester program
      A long-term visa is necessary for those students participating on a semester program. Visas can take up to 90 days for the Czech Embassy to process; therefore, it is extremely important to submit all visa materials promptly. More information can be found on Visa Information.

 

    • Attend the Pre-Departure Conference on campus
      All NC State undergraduate students participating in a semester study abroad program are required to attend a Pre-Departure Conference. More information regarding date and time can be found on student’s PackAbroad account and Study Abroad’s Dates and Deadlines page.

 

    • Register for classes
      You will register for classes using MyPack. As a Prague Institute participant, you will be given special permission to enroll in specific Prague Institute sections. This process is much later than the normal on-campus schedule; however, the Study Abroad Office will be in contact with you via email with more details as they become available.

 

    • Pay the remaining program balance in MyPack
      The final program balance (program cost less the application charge) is due to the Cashier’s Office on the payment deadline. The balance will be posted to “My Student Account” in MyPack approximately one month before the payment deadline. Students may use any of the payment options available through the Cashier’s Office.
