Writing for films, story planning, character development, communicating information, building scenes, relationships between script and cinematic dimensions, working with studios and editors.
This writing workshop culminates with each student completing an original, feature length screenplay (90-120 pp). Students will spend the first third of the term on exercises and assignments that build skills in writing dialogue, composing scenes, and developing characters. The latter portion of the course is devoted to students working on their own screenplays and reading and critiquing the work of their peers. During this term in Prague, we will place special emphasis on the best way to develop stories and write screenplays that rely upon a strong sense of place, history, and culture, so that students make the most of their sojourn in the Czech Republic
